Moving a Castaway licence to a new computer involves 3 steps:

install Castaway on the new computer

report the machine IDs of the old and new computers
- uninstall Castaway from the old computer
Your Castaway data files are transportables. Think of them as similar to Microsoft Excel or Word files, so they can be moved around and opened by other instances of Castaway. They will not be affected by moving licence.
The process for moving a Castaway licence to a new computer depends on whether the new computer has the latest version of Castaway installed. Click here to check your Castaway version. So, if the new computer:
- does not have Castaway installed, use Option 1 below
- has an earlier version of Castaway installed, use Option 1 below
- has the latest version of Castaway installed, use Option 2 below.
Option 1: Move a Castaway licence to a new computer that DOES NOT have the latest version of Castaway installed
Go to the Castaway Help Centre and submit a support request as follows:
- enter Move Licence (install needed) as the subject
- enter the name of the Castaway user in the Description Box
- below the user name, paste the Machine ID of the old computer
Click Submit to send the request. Our support team will review the request and send instructions for installing Castaway on the new computer.
Option 2: Move a Castaway licence to a new computer that DOES have the latest version of Castaway installed
Go to the Castaway Help Centre and submit a support request as follows:
- enter Transfer Licence as the subject
- enter the name of the Castaway user in the Description Box
- below the user name, paste the Machine ID of the old computer
- paste the Machine ID of the new computer
- Click Submit to send the request
