LATEST STATUS: 30 August 2024, 8:00pm AEST
We have built a new version of Castaway that resolves this issue. Please email our team on support@castawayforecasting.com for instructions.
The issue (MYOB)
Scope: some users of the MYOB integration in Castaway desktop
The issue: several users have today reported errors when trying to use the Castaway integration with
MYOB AccountRight
Impact: These users are unable to connect Castaway to MYOB and so are unable to import Actuals data
via the MYOB integration
How the issue appears
After clicking the MYOB integration button, users reach a Company File Access screen. After clicking
Allow Access, a series of errors occur:
1. a series of 'Script error' popups (click No on each to move past them)
2. an MYOB Connection Failure popup (see below)
The issue (XERO)
How the issue appears
Solution
We have developed a new version of Castaway that is available for download, email
support@castaway.com to get access to the install instructions.
Workaround options
It is possible that a similar issue will be present in the future so we have included the options for work
around.
There are 2 possible workarounds we would recommend:
1. use an Excel import template to bring the data in from MYOB/XERO
2. manually enter the Actuals data from MYOB/XERO
If you choose to import the data, we have created 2 Excel workbooks as a starting point:
1. an example workbook based on the MYOB Clearwater sample company
2. a blank workbook you can use for your own MYOB data
Using an Excel import template
Many Castaway users import Actuals data via Excel, particularly with accounting systems Castaway does
not natively integrate with. We have developed templates that make the process of setting up the import
as easy as possible. Import templates can be designed for one-off/single-month use, or for ongoing multi-months.
Given we currently expect the MYOB situation will be resolved, we think a single-month template is the
best approach. This option involves:
1. extract a trial balance from MYOB into Excel
2. paste it into our import template (with some adjustments to tailor it to your TB)
3. import the TB data into Castaway via the Excel integration
4. map the Excel source data to your Castaway chart of accounts
5. import the mapped Actuals data
